The days, weeks, months and even decades can stretch our faith. Our growth seems so gradual sometimes, we struggle to see any progress. But the Bible says...
By faith we understand that the universe has been created by a word from God so that the visible came into existence from the invisible (Heb 11:3, CEB).
Your name is a word. God created you. He does the miraculous all the time--bringing something from nothing and calling it good. This is His nature, character, and His favorite "hobby," if you will. It's impressive, and no man can accomplish anything close. The whole planet, and all of your life, is a miracle designed and crafted by God. He involves you in His good plan and, therefore, will make rivers in the desert for you--right when you need them. He is always doing something new. (See Isaiah 43:19.)
Our lifespan covers many decades--we can't rush, and we can't lag behind. It's a story. Like a beautiful oak tree, it takes years and seasons and gradual growth to accomplish substance, height and impressive stature--something to glorify God with. Look at the patience one oak tree holds in all its rings. Look at the millions of leaves it has lost only to regain fresh ones each spring. Look at how it knows the direction of the sun and light and aims for it every moment. Notice how the storms can only prune things that are wasting its energy. Take lessons on how it is unapologetic to exist--quiet, yet making its bold statement, "God made me and put me here. Here I will stand." And, don't walk away from an oak tree without realizing that the courage to stand tall alone is what makes it magnificent.
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me...that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified (Isaiah 61:1-4 ESV).
How is your FAITH?
If it needs a boost, list two or three times in your life when something looked impossible.
1.
2.
3.
Recall how God saw you through each one and thank Him.
How long did it take to receive an answer, deliverance, or healing?
Consider praying this simple prayer...
Lord, I know You are faithful. Sometimes I lack the patience or the faith I would like to have, so I ask You to give me both right now. I know You have heard my prayers. I know You will come through. You have been there for me all of my life, and I am confident You will come through again. Help me keep faith in my heart and a positive confession in my mind and conversations. No matter how long it takes, I know You are working all things out for my good. While I wait, help me to be kind to myself and show me someone I can encourage or show Your love to today. Thank You, Lord, for everything You have done in my past, and everything You will do in my future. And thank You for being here with me right now. I trust You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
