Three Days: The Simple Yet Profound Message of the Cross

Updated: Mar 30, 2021

If ever there was a message radiating from the stark and quiet cross, it must be this:

Hope anyway.

The cross is now vacant, just as evil will soon be.

If ever there was a message rising up from the dank and sullen tomb, it must be this:

Keep going.

The grave is now empty, just as this fallen world will one day be.

To be a follower of Christ means to take up the same courses and choices. It means to follow Him out of the deepest, darkest pit of depression and death, after the soil of impossibility has us buried and the most impenetrable rock of offense has our fate sealed—or so we think...

You see, God doesn’t have to abide by what the world calls “fate”. He owns the greatest story ever told, and therefore, delights in rewriting destiny. His ink is the light of glory extracted from what was once the saddest tale. In the end, people who choose rightly will rejoice in the realm of Heaven where plot and time only expand. That’s the new life—and the old life cannot possibly relate.

Therefore,

Walk on.

God deals in management so colossal we cannot fathom it. His imagination and detail have no equal. In Him, we only have new beginnings because He is a Master Author, the Finisher of our Faith.

Whatever has you broken will remain in the tomb. Hope walks, straight out after the Saviour. We will eternally marvel at His power to accomplish redemption.

Where on earth did such strength and unending life come from! Heaven, of course—God coming to the fallen world as Man to find, serve and save the small. There is no other way to the Father or resurrected life other than following this One called JESUS. He will lead us out…of anything.

In the morning, we are told softly God’s Holy Spirit cannot be contained in the depths of the dark. Slowly, you realize His story is your story. Change your mind and accept it.

An empty cross. An empty tomb. A full Heaven. Jesus is Alive. So are you, eternally, in Him. There is no end for those wrapped in the same Spirit of God along with Him. And, three days is all it took.

How humbling to learn, in the shadow of the cross:

You cannot keep a Saint down, either.

Hope anyway. Keep going. Walk on.

Have a Happy Easter!

You have every good reason to feel joy as you follow our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive,

so that your joy may be made full

(John 16:24, NASB).

Up from the grave He arose; with a mighty triumph o'er His foes; He arose a victor from the dark domain, and He lives forever, with His saints to reign. He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!
~ Robert Lowry (1874)
